A school in difficulty
The St. Charles Lwanga parish school, in Ediakap, is facing a difficult situation. Due to limited financial resources, it is sustained by the priest, parents and a few private supporters.
For the 2022/2023 school year, 110 children are enrolled, including 40 in nursery and 70 in primary school. The functioning of the school is limited by the lack of equipment, adequate infrastructure and the lack of access to water.
Urgent challenges and needs
The school currently has four usable classrooms shared by multiple classes. Three additional classrooms require renovation.
Students lack supplies and teachers work in difficult conditions. The nursery lacks beds and appropriate equipment. Lack of water and hygiene poses a major health risk.
Our commitment and concrete support
Hand on Heart e.V. became aware of the situation through a field visit. The parish priest, Abbé François, requested support from the organization.
Despite limited financial resources, Hand on Heart e.V. decided to act concretely. On February 13, 2023, a first donation campaign was organized. The number of students increased from 8 to 110, showing the importance of the school.
