A shocking discovery and immediate action
In February 2021, during a visit to Cameroon, Ms. Nelly Mbaho discovered the “La Léproserie de Dibamba” center. Deeply shocked by the patients’ living conditions, she realized they were entirely dependent on the center.
Due to stigma, they cannot meet their basic needs and rely entirely on the center for food and care. Ms. Mbaho immediately took action by distributing food supplies to each patient on behalf of Hand on Heart e.V. This action marked the beginning of a long-term commitment by the organization.
Mobilization and medical donations from Germany
In March 2021, Isabelle Grandmontagne and Gerd Christoph launched a relief campaign from Germany.
Medicines and medical supplies were sent to address urgent needs.
Donations included painkillers, bandages, disinfectants, vitamins, soaps and essential equipment.
This initiative demonstrates the international mobilization capacity of Hand on Heart e.V.
It improves patients’ quality of life and supports healthcare workers.
Ongoing collection and call for solidarity
Hand on Heart e.V. continues to organize ongoing in-kind donation drives.
Needs include clothing, medical equipment, mobility aids and essential supplies.
Due to intense heat, fans and air conditioning units are also needed.
