An unforgettable Christmas for the children
On December 16, 2020, children from the CAJEN orphanage in Douala experienced a truly special moment, celebrating a real Christmas for the first time, marked by the presence of a real Christmas tree decorated by the children themselves. This symbolic day brought joy, wonder and warmth to children who had never experienced such a celebration before.
The distribution of Christmas gifts, beds and sleeping bags took place in a festive and emotional atmosphere. The ceremony was held in the presence of the district mayor and social services, and was led by Mrs. Hortense Nana, representative of Hand on Heart e.V.
Personalized donations and material support
Thanks to the generosity of Isabelle and Gerd Christoph, each child received a personalized Christmas gift, carefully prepared and individually wrapped. In total, 25 children received gifts tailored to their needs, reinforcing their sense of dignity and care.
The distribution of beds and sleeping bags significantly improved their living conditions, helping to create a safer and more dignified environment for the children.
Acknowledgements, celebration and impact
This day was made even more memorable thanks to the generous financial support of Ms. Heike Erbelding, Ms. Rosemarie Kneip and Dr. Michael Reindl. Their contributions made it possible to organize a large celebration with live music and DJ, as well as to provide food and drinks for nearly 50 guests and many children, creating a festive and warm atmosphere.
Thanks to monetary and in-kind donations, the impact of this initiative extended well beyond December 16. The children benefited, during the following two weeks, from improved nutritional support, including a three-course festive menu, especially for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Hand on Heart e.V. extends its sincere thanks to all donors and partners for their solidarity, trust and commitment, making it possible to offer the children of the CAJEN orphanage a dignified, joyful and hope-filled Christmas.
