“The chance to go to school – A right for every child”

As part of its commitment to children’s rights, the association Hand on Heart e.V. dedicated the year 2022 to education for all. This vision came to life during the first edition of the Hand on Heart e.V. charity tournament, held on September 3, 2022 at the sports complex of the Kieselhumes Stadium in Saarbrücken, with the valuable support of Sparkasse Saarbrücken, C-GROS Saarbrücken and Familov.

A day dedicated to sport and solidarity

More than 200 spectators attended to share a day full of emotions and activities. The event began with a welcome speech by Mrs. Nelly Mbaho, president of the association, who presented Hand on Heart e.V., its missions, and the solidarity goals of the tournament.

U12 football tournament: the enthusiasm of the youngest

The sports program opened with a football tournament for children (U12 category), featuring dynamic and exciting matches until 1:00 p.m. Three teams competed, with the following final ranking:

  • 1st place: Saar 05

  • 2nd place: Hand on Heart e.V.

  • 3rd place: ATSV

Senior football tournament: a closely contested final

In the afternoon, the men’s football tournament brought together the teams Erythrea FC, Erythrea FC 2 and Hand on Heart e.V.. The highly competitive final ended with a narrow victory for Erythrea FC against Hand on Heart e.V. with a score of 2 goals to 1.

Entertainment, raffle, and exotic cuisine

Alongside the matches, a large raffle was organized, offering many attractive prizes. The main prize was won by Max Clément Nanfack, owner of the African grocery store Josy-Afro-SHOP in Saarbrücken, who emotionally stated:

“For the first time in my life, I managed to win something big.”

To the delight of the children present, two large inflatable structures were made available to them throughout the day.

One of the highlights of the event was also the presentation and sale of exotic food and drinks, from the C-GROS Saarbrücken range. Participants were able to enjoy, among other things:

  • fried fish served with fried plantains,

  • meat skewers with exotic sauce,

  • African donuts served with bean stew.
